Hing Opticians Colour Clinic

A condition called Meares-Irlen syndrome is thought to be suffered by up to 20% of the population. Meares-Irlen syndrome causes discomfort or visual stress when looking a page of words.

At Hing Opticians we now offer our “colour clinic” so called because it is possible to reduce the effect of Meares-Irlen syndrome by wearing coloured lenses in your glasses and these colours vary from person to person.

Meares-Irlen Syndrome

If you find it uncomfortable to look at a page of words or the text appears to move, wobble or flicker this could be an indicator.

Some people also see colours or patterns in the words and this tends to make reading for any length of time uncomfortable which can lead to eyestrain, headaches or even migraines.
