Pre-Screening

One of our clinical assistants will perform some initial tests, these can consist of a visual field check – designed to analyse your peripheral vision; a measurement of your intra ocular pressure, which is used and some other basic eye checks. We also offer the cutting edge technology of Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT), which you will be offered on the day.

We will ask you about any problems you’ve been having with your vision, and enquire about your general health and any medication that you may be taking.

We will also ask a little bit about your occupation and your hobbies so that we can have a clear idea of your visual needs.

Eye Examination

Your eye examination will be completed by one of our fully qualified optometrists. Here it is not just a “sight test” we check many aspects of your ocular & general health and will fully explain our finding to you. Your optometrist will individualise your examination to your needs to ensure we are getting the best results from you and your eyes.

We can perform both private or NHS eye examinations.

If you are entitled to an NHS eye examination then there will be no cost towards the basic test, if you would like the additional OCT this is charged at £31.50. Private eye examinations cost £68.25 and this includes a full pre screening examination and OCT. In many other practices the OCT is charged at £50 alone but we feel that this is such an important test that we offer this as a non profit service.

Alternatively, you can join one of our Direct Debit plans, offering you the ability to pay a monthly fee which will cover the cost of all your appointments and scans, including any emergency appointments. As a member of one of our eyecare plans, you will also be eligible for a 10% discount off complete spectacles. This can be arranged at your appointment, please feel free to speak to us if this of interest to you.
